Supporting Children through the Donation Process

  

Sara Harstad, MA

Sara has been the organizational Training Program Manager at LifeCenter Northwest since March of 2013. She has been a learning and development professional for a decade and strives to design, develop, and evaluate effective performance based learning to help organizations reach their goals. She came to work at LifeCenter Northwest after completing her Master’s in organizational development with a design and systems thinking focus. She is passionate about nature, sustainable food systems, singing, and cooking.

Ashlei Brooks, MSW, LICSW - Speaker
 
Ashlei has been a part of the LifeCenter Northwest team since June of 2015, and is overseeing the OPO’s Aftercare Program. She has a clinical social work background, with an emphasis on grief and bereavement support for children, youth and families. Prior to her time at LifeCenter, Ashlei worked as a hospital based social worker for 7 years. Outside of work, you can find her hiking, camping or skiing in the Pacific Northwest, or traveling to her favorite vacation destination of Whistler, Canada.

Nettie Jensen, CCLS - Speaker
 
Nettie has been a part of the LifeCenter Northwest team since April of 2015, and is a member of the Family Support Team, walking families through end of life and the donation process. Nettie has been a Certified Child Life Specialist for 10 years, specializing in Critical Care and the end of life. Prior to her time at LifeCenter, Nettie worked in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at a Children's Hospital in Washington State. In this time she helped multiple children navigate the end of life of a sibling, parent, or grandparent. Nettie spends her free time planning and facilitating support groups and summer camp for children with Cardiac disease. She also enjoys spending time with her husband, running, hiking and traveling to anywhere she can find the ocean.  

Valerie Maury, CDC, NCAC II - Speaker
 
Valerie Maury has worked with donor families at LifeCenter Northwest for sixteen years. She helped develop a bereavement program and has assisted many families begin their journey of healing. Her current role at LifeCenter includes training, onsite donor family support, and working with donor hospitals on compassion fatigue and self-care. She has been active with the AOPO Donor Family Services Council for sixteen years, and co-chaired the council for two years.
