The Brattleboro Retreat
8:30 AM - 4:00 PM

"Frank Anderson is a brilliant and delightful presenter who has pioneered a collaborative and revolutionary approach to psychopharmacology that helps patients listen to their parts regarding the effects of the medication and adjust to the feedback until there is inner consensus."

Richard Schwartz, PhD
Founder of the Center for Self Leadership and Internal Family Systems

There is a missing link in psychopharmacological treatment that goes beyond matching the client to an effective medication. In this workshop, Dr. Anderson will introduce attendees to a method which helps clients explore their feelings, beliefs and reactions to the use of medication thereby increasing its success and deepening the therapeutic process. Among the many questions, Dr. Anderson will answer are what are the new most promising medications on the market, are antidepressants really any better than placebos, and why are so many clients prescribed antipsychotics these days?

Learning Objectives

At the end of this conference, participants will be able to:

1) distinguish between biological and psychological components of psychiatric symptoms, learning how to work collaboratively with both.

2) assess the client’s attitude and responses toward medication.

3) Examine their own feelings and reactions toward clients taking medications.

4) Explain how psychiatric medications work in the brain.

5) describe best prescribing practices for treating depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, PTSD, dissociation, psychotic disorders, insomnia, ADHD, and more.
