SC304. Early Learners Engage and Reason With CER
Early science provides an opportunity to investigate the natural world everyday. Join us to delve into areas critical to K-2, while also exploring our beliefs about the role of the teacher and our own science understandings. Using the outside environment, the sun, and flashlights, marbles, and magnets, we will probe concept development of young children and potential misconceptions. The Claims Evidence Reasoning model relates beautifully to early science exploration and literacy development. Participants will have time to connect to meaningful investigations, refine their understandings of both CER and the 5E instructional model, and determine how they apply for all students. Participants will leave with a set of the investigative materials used and copies of all documents shared.
