Third Biennial Maryland Regional Juried Art Exhibition


UMUC is pleased to present its 3rd Biennial Maryland Regional Juried Art Exhibition, featuring the works of new and emerging contemporary artists from Maryland; Washington, DC; and Northern Virginia. $35 for up to Two Entries, $5 for one additional entry.  

Jurors

  1. Gretchen Schermerhorn, Artist and Artistic Director, Pyramid Atlantic, Silver Spring, MD
  2. Vanessa Thaxton-Ward, PhD, Curator/Interim Director, Hampton University Museum
  3. Nina C. Dwyer, Adjunct Professor of Art, Montgomery College
 

Image Requirement

Artists are responsible for uploading high resolution images (300 dpi, approximately 8x10 inches) for each of the submissions.  These images will be used in the catalog.
 

Award Categories

1st Place - President's Best of Show Award

  • One-person major exhibit in the off season of the Biennial
  • Full color, professionally designed catalog for the exhibit (approximately 40 pages with color plates)
  • Meet the Artist Reception
  • $500 framing credit at UMUC frame shop to assist with framing for the show
  • Best-of-Show highlight in UMUC Friends of the Arts newsletter and Web site 
  • Full color invitations, poster, and exhibit banners including exhibit labels 
  • Press Release

2nd Place - Jurors Choice Award

  • Highlights on UMUC Friends of the Arts Web site and newsletter
  • Artist's contact information on UMUC Web site and newsletter
  • Ribbon recognition on the selected artwork during the run of the exhibit 
  • $400 honorarium

3rd Place - Award of Merritt

  • Highlights on UMUC Friends of the Arts Web site and newsletter 
  • Artist's contact information on UMUC Website and newsletter
  • Ribbon recognition on the artwork during the run of the exhibit
  • $300 honorarium

4th and 5th Place - Arts Program Honorable Mention

  • Red Ribbon placement on artwork
  • $100 honorarium
